My good friend, Marlene, and I enjoyed a walk around the city lake yesterday. The young goslings and ducklings are arrived, and we wished we'd brought our cameras.
Today, Marlene sent me this cute video of an intrepid mother duck and her young. I've had the chance to observe scenes similar to this, and am always impressed by the mother's calm as she shepherds her babies across busy streets. Here, it looks as though these ducks also had to deal with some strong winds.
I feel pretty confident you will enjoy this - there's not much more lovely than baby ducklings!

I love it! So glad the little guys were okay. Did you notice mom's feathers at the end? Thanks so much, I needed to laugh.
Sandy,
You are welcome!
Yes, I did notice her feathers were uncharacteristically ruffled, yet her demeanor appeared dignified, and calm. :)
I often wonder how mother ducks keep their calm, with these little guys often often going every which way.
Isn't nature great!

I would not be a good mother duck! I would have panicked and been quacking - a lot! Amazing. Thanks for sharing it! Ann

Ann,
Me too!
I just love this mother duck's unflappability.
Thanks for dropping by!

Oh so adorable. I love the music too, Bob Seeger was one of my favs!
I remember on a run around that lake years ago, my friend and I "escorted" a group of ducks across Albert St. and back into the park. No one got lost or hurt. It was a nice addition to the day's run.
Thanks for the good memories...
Have a lovely weekend, G
Hi, there, Ger!
It's great to have you visit!
I hope you're beginning to feel better.
I'm glad you enjoyed this video, those little ducklings sure took some serious tumbles, but all was well, and Mother Duck maintained her calm.
I'm glad this brought back a happy memory - every summer we seem to be graced with incidents of mother ducks and geese and their young making their way across a street - either Albert, Broad, or Wascana Parkway - and it always seems to delight passers by, and bring out the kindness in everyone involved.
You too have a good weekend!
B
