A Very Nice Spring Day

Today has been one of those days we've been waiting for here in Saskatchewan.

The trees are beginning to bud; tulips and other spring flowers are blooming; the air is filled with bird song from early dawn through to the blessed end of the day.

At her wonderful blog, gardenpath, Sandy has a post today with a photo of maple tree flowers. After seeing this, I decided I should take a closer look at the tree buds I and my children have been looking at daily. I'm familiar with the common flowers such as cherry and apple blossoms, and the bright green willow tree flowers, but I haven't really appreciated some of the other kinds of tree flowers.

I think this is a chestnut tree.I think the delicate rose colour is pretty.

Here a bud has opened. When I showed this picture to my children at the daycare center, the comment was "Oh, a bird".

And this is how the flower looks fully opened. Exquisite.
And because it was a glorious day, and I am loving having this new camera, I needed to take this picture too! Same tree.

It is now nightfall, and the birds are slowly quieting for the night. The songs of birds at dusk is one of my favourite sounds, there is something peaceful for me in this.Something in it of the last calls of parents for their children to come in from play. Something saying all is well. Rest now. Sleep.

Wow, things look like they are progressing fast for spring in the Prairies Brenda. It's still pretty dry and brown here. Nice green photos, love it!

Brenda, beautiful pictures. So different from what we have here in FL. I love the sounds of the birds settling down at night too and then the morning wake up time is delightful to hear as well. Ann

Good morning Brenda, Herbert and Arthur, Meowmie is allowing me some time on the keys, it's hard to wrestle her away from the screen that she loves snort...

Pray tell, where have those comments gotten to? Meowmie is missing several. And to Herbert and Arthur, lots of headbonks and wishing you a good day. Perhaps you should be considering blogging yourselves? It is so rewarding, especially when you are as talented and handsome as I am guys are pretty good looking too and from what I've heard, darn smart!

Headbonks, The Ched!!!!! Celebrity Blogger and all around Feline about Town.

What a beautiful day you had. I love the progression of the tree blooming and gosh it is gorgeous! Your children learn a lot from you and natural wonders are so important to their growth.

Oh I see Mr Ched got here before me. Too bad he and Arthur and Herbert can't have a picnic together. Lots of head bonking would be happening.

Hi Brenda and Teri, Ahhhh...Mr. Cheddar is getting ahead of me, making the rounds today. I agree, there would be a "whole lot of head bonking going on" if those three ever got together.

I left a comment for this post before, I guess it hit the blogger dust. So nice to see the spring progress and early on the Prairies!

Hugs, G

Hi Ger!
It looks like we were commenting here at the same time, and I missed you before I put my comments here.
Hmmm I think most comments dropped off from Wednesday posts, as I checked on several comments, ands they had disappeared, but it is good things are up and running again!

Yes, it looks like Mr. Ched may have been at the keyboard this morning, I wonder where else he appeared!

Happy Weekend!
